Alisa Perren is Associate Professor (PhD and MA, University of Texas at Austin; BA UCLA)in the Department of Communication at Georgia State University. Her research interests include media industry studies, television studies, US film and television history, and cultural studies. She is the co-editor of Media Industries: History, Theory, and Method (Wiley-Blackwell, 2009) and author of Indie, Inc.: Miramax and the Transformation of Hollywood in the 1990s (University of Texas Press, forthcoming).  Her work has appeared in a range of print and online publications, including Film Quarterly, Journal of Film and Video, Journal of Popular Film and Television, and Flow. She is also Coordinating Editor of In Media Res, a MediaCommons project focused on experimenting with collaborative, multi-modal forms of online scholarship.
