About
David Cheshier (Ph.D., Iowa, speech communication) is chair of the department of communication at Georgia State University in Atlanta, and directs its Center for Collaborative Scholarship in the Humanities. His work connects to rhetorical and argumentation theory, with projects underway relating to the viability of deliberative practices, rhetorical history and theory, and media literacy. Cheshier coached intercollegiate debate for twenty years at Dartmouth College, UNC-CH, Georgetown University, and the University of Iowa (in assistant positions at all but Georgetown), and is the recipient of research awards from the National Communication and American Forensic Associations.
